You Only Live Twice-1

Happy November, all!

This month at the Kimono Wine Bar & Grill we will be showing "You Only Live Twice" (1967), the fifth in the series of "James Bond" movies  (and starring our favorite Sean Connery), and the only one to be filmed (partly) in Japan.

Here's the logline: "Agent 007 and the Japanese secret service ninja force must find and stop the true culprit of a series of spacejackings before nuclear war is provoked."

The film is a fascinating time capsule that covers the fear of nuclear war between the US and the USSR, and is, in turns, sexist, racist, and just about everything else under the sun! There is a vast amount of entertaining trivia from the film, some of which can be found here. We have the Japanese version, so J-subtitles will be available.

NOTE: This month movie night is on TUESDAY. We will begin at 7:00pm to accommodate those who requested an earlier start time. Admission is ¥2500, which covers delicious snacks and one drink. The film is 117 minutes long.

RSVPs are a must! Please RSVP to lauren@kimonowinebar.com  If you must cancel, please let us know that, too, ASAP. Hope to see you there!

Bridge to the Sun

Happy October, everyone!

Please join us at the Kimono Wine Bar & Grill where we will have a repeat showing of the unique Bridge to the Sun, a story of interracial romance played out against the background of World War II. Based on the bestselling book by Gwen Terasaki, starring Carroll Baker and James Shigeta. Unusual, thought-provoking and still powerful, 50 years on.

NOTE: This month movie night is on TUESDAY. We will begin at 7:00pm to accommodate those who requested an earlier start time. Admission is ¥2500, which covers delicious snacks and one drink. The film is 112 minutes long.

RSVPs are a must! Please RSVP to lauren@kimonowinebar.com  If you must cancel, please let us know that, too, ASAP.
Hope to see you there!

KINDLE VERSION, LIVE!

To all those who requested an ebook version of FIT, I am happy to announce that the Kindle version is now live on Amazon in the US, UK and Germany. For anyone who has a Kindle or a Kindle app on their iPad of iPhone, FIT is ready to be downloaded! Go to the Purchase Book page on this site for all the links!

For anyone who does decide to purchase the Kindle version, please let me know how it looks in your reader. Converting a print version is not always as clean, and in the case of FIT, with the use of hiragana and katakana characters, it seems it was difficult to keep linespacing perfect.

Nonetheless, it is available and I look forward to your comments.
